PHP 7.1 vs. 7.0 performance benchmarks with Symfony and eZ Platform
"PHP 7.1 was launched on December 1st 2016. This was the first minor release after the release of 7.0 a year ago. PHP 7.0 was a revolutionary product, especially when it comes to memory usage and performance. PHP 7.1 is a more modest upgrade that brings new features and improved performance. But how much has performance improved from a year back?"
eZ Announces Name Changes to Product Portfolio
As eZ has adopted a new motto—Simplify—a name change in our product portfolio has been implemented. First, eZ Enterprise is now called eZ Platform Enterprise Edition. Second, eZ Studio is now simply Studio. The name change will take place in an iterative fashion, through sites, documentation and other areas. You can read the full details on our blog.
Recap: re\Vision NYC and Innholdsdagen
On the 12th of December, we hosted our Re\Vision speakers series in NYC. The event took place at the Foundation Center, high above the Financial District with a beautiful view of the East River.
Digital professionals gathered to listen about latest trends and developments in Omni Channel User Experiences. We’d like to thank, Catherine Devine, Chief Digital Officer of AMNH and Stephen MacKley, Director of UX at Beaconfire RED for their very inspiring talks.
Catherine discussed new features of the museum’s Explorer App and all the considerations needed for a truly personalized user experience
Stephen’s talk went into the psychology of the user, focusing on external and internal triggers needed to provide the ultimate user experience across channels.
Our very own Roland Benedetti, concluded the talks with an entertaining anecdote about the perils of shipping (and then tracking) with the USPS web site and how the right CMS can truly advance your company's Omni Channel strategy.
eZ’s Chief of Strategy and co-founder, Bård Farstad was also in attendance and hosted a lively panel with the speakers.
A recap blog post with more information and slides from the talks will be released shortly. We also interviewed some of our eZ Partners for Kaliop and eSpace and look forward to sharing some video highlights!
Another event, Innholdsdagen aka content day, took place in Norway. With over 150 attending, the event was split into two parts. In the he first part, people provided positive feedback on content production, content architecture and more.
The second part had mostly eZ Publish customers attending. It was also successful as they were impressed with the new editorial experience in the new UI. They also provided feedback on advanced use cases they'd like the new UI to solve. Due to its success, the event will get a follow up early next year.

Roadmap and reminder to semantic versioning
With the new eZ Platform v1.7.0 LTS available, I’d like to highlight our roadmap as a resource. On our roadmap you find current and planned work for both eZ Platform, eZ Platform Enterprise Edition and Studio. Be sure to check it out and find more features you can expect soon.
And as a quick reminder, it has not that long ago that we switched to semantic versioning, which also applies to the latest release. So if you are curious about that, make sure to check out a blog on this topic by David Liedle, Technical Product Manager at eZ.
