eZ components 1.0 beta1

After a lot of hard work we are proud to release eZ components Beta 1. eZ components is an enterprise ready general purpose PHP components library based on PHP 5. This first release features a preview of most components that will be found in the final release.

eZ components

As a collection of high quality independent building blocks for PHP application development eZ components will both speed up development and reduce risks. An application can use one or more components effortlessly as they all adhere to the same naming conventions and follow the same structure. All components are based on PHP 5.1, except for a few that require the new Unicode support that will be available from PHP 6.

  • Designed for enterprise PHP application development
  • Open source and licensed under the New BSD license
  • Clear IP rights
  • Thoroughly documented
  • Developed, supported and maintained by eZ Systems

You can read more about eZ components on the eZ components product page.

A list with descriptions of all packages available in the final version can be found here.

Although eZ components beta 1 is fully usable, there is still a lot of work to be done:

  • Finalize the components that are missing in this beta (most notably Template and PersistentObject)
  • Complete review of library to remove naming and usage inconsistencies
  • Complete review and update of the library documentation
  • The documentation will be updated to the ez.no design and will be available from http://ez.no/doc

We will release at least one more beta containing all packages before the first release candidate. We expect the first stable release late before christmas. If you have feedback in form of suggestions or question, take a look at the eZ components forum. Should you find any bugs, please report them through our bug tracker.
