Community Newsletter #2, 9th February 2007

The biggest news this week is the announcement about eZ Publish 4.0 development! Aside from the weekly forum watch and the current bug status update, you can also read about the new eZ Publish Russian Community Portal.

eZ Publish 4

This week, we updated the roadmap for future eZ Publish releases. The highlight is eZ Publish 4.0, which can be expected towards the end of this year or early next year.

eZ Publish 4.0 will run on PHP 5 and use eZ Components. This is the first step towards the next generation of eZ Publish. A PHP 5 version of eZ Publish has been requested by the community and partners and this updated plan will have it in place about one year ahead of the original plan.

Even though we have updated our plan, we are not changing our vision and goals. The platform and solution strategy introduced last year is still our focus. We will continuously innovate top down through our solutions and bottom up through our platform strategy.

We will grow eZ Platform gradually from our current eZ Components base, and eZ Publish will be continuously updated to include the base systems and components. Currently, we will not make a separate application server, but work towards our long term vision and goals of a complete stack.

eZ Publish Russian Community Portal

Russian-speaking eZ Publish users can share their information on a new community portal. Valuable resources concerning the Open Source Enterprise CMS can be found at www.ezpublish.ru in the forum and in articles.

The forum is for all sorts of questions, whether they are technical or general. The articles are for all users, from beginners to advanced users.

The portal was set up by the bronze partner Internet Bureau and based on eZ Publish. Everyone is invited to participate and contribute!

Re: CN's Contributions (List)

I really do like the list of contribution with recent modifications in the community newsletter!

It might be simple to do) and more clear to give the status. (for readers to provide an into understanding of the most basic type of activity involved / related; new and updated)

Example might be to modify the list of contributions in the community newsletter to indicate along with the current list contributions with recent modifications to be labeled with 'updated' while newly created contributions labeled with 'new'.
