An OpenOffice import prototype, performance updates and as usual, the administration interface project make up this weeks newsletter.
A prototype import of the OpenOffice document format has been made. The screenshots below show a document written in OpenOffice and how that document is rendered when it's imported into eZ Publish.

This week browse mode was updates to with the new administration gui. It works the same way as the navigation mode and you can of course use the left menu to browse around. Have a look at the screenshot below.
As Derick writes in his blog entry he has integrated PHP 4 XML parser with eZ Publish. The time used to compile a translation file (.ts) dropped from 8 seconds to 0.6 seconds according to Dericks test.
He also commited a template compiler change which made compiling templates 20% faster. In addition to the 20% speed increase the new method also uses less memory.
ez.no have been updated with the possibility to edit your on profile and a new posting feature. We are doing more updates to the forum, user profile and bugs system as I write. Hopefully these will be ready sometime next week. More resources have been assigned to ez.no. We are doing our best to be active in the community and improving it.
These changes will hopefully improve the user experience and lead to a more active community.

Seriously: this will be a part of the default eZ publish installation. It just needs to be improved before it's added. There are some isses with it now. I hope to make it ready before the 3.5 feature freeze, so it will be available in 3.5. Uhm, and did I hear export to OpenOffice as well?

where are the files for the import. This is a great feature. Speaking form a company that uses OpenOffice for all their documents it will be a great timesaver for document import.
How can we help test this?
