Status of eZ publish 3.9

While the release of the final version of eZ publish 3.9 was unfortunately delayed, we are now closing in. Regarding the release dates, in the past our policy has been to announce a fixed release date for final versions. Now, however, instead of having a fixed date for the final release, we will only have a fixed date for feature freeze. After the feature freeze we will work on testing and bugfixing, releasing beta versions and release candidates as we go along. When the codebase has been proven stable enough, we will release the official version. This means that we cannot predict the date when an official release will be available. However, based on experience, it will typically be one or two months after the feature freeze.

eZ publish 3.9 not only includes the features listed in the public feature list. In addition, it includes a new Website Interface that provides access to the content editing interface from a website's front end. While this interface will be new to most community members, numerous partners have already had a first look during recent partner events. In the process of merging this new functionality into the standard distribution we have experienced obstacles which caused the delay in the release date. However, with this Release Candidate we feel we are back on track and are excited to show this new look of eZ publish to all of you.

Because of our new release policy, we won't set a specific date for the final release. We expect to have it out in mid December (depending on the results of testing in the following weeks).
