eZ publish in tOSSad EU Project

The tOSSad project, a European Union FP6 project funded under IST-3, aims to integrate, improve and disseminate the outcomes and practices of the F/OSS communities throughout Europe. The tOSSad website is based on the eZ publish CMS.

The project particularly highlights sharing the knowledge and supporting the networking and coordination of F/OSS communities. As such, one of the core action of the project is the development of a collaborative information portal and a Web based groupware to disseminate results and practices of state-of-the-art F/OSS studies, F/OSS national program initiations, F/OSS usability cases and F/OSS curriculum development.

This talk presents a case study on eZ Publish CMS implementation, adjustment, and refinement for the aforementioned project needs and targets. It further discusses how a truly 'structuration process' has been taken place in terms of a 'duality' in between the deployed eZ System and the project consortium. It both highlights capacities, functionalities, and limitations of the particular eZ Sytems implementation; and preferences, selection, and usage of the tOSSad project. Thus, the talk outlines how this reciprocal interaction between eZ System as a CMS technology and the tOSSad consortium has yielded in an effective and efficient information dissemination portal as well as a Web based collaborative environment.
