eZ Find is an enterprise-ready search plugin for eZ Publish. Based on the Lucene Java/Solr search library, eZ Find searches multiple eZ Publish installations simultaneously. With eZ Find, visitors quickly and easily locate information on eZ Publish sites by way of relevant search results. Scalability and high performance are the guarantee that the eZ Find search engine supports enterprise-level sites.

eZ Find enables site visitors to quickly and easily locate information on eZ Publish sites by providing relevant search results. High scalability and performance ensures that the eZ Find search engine can support enterprise-level sites.

It uses the Open Source enterprise search server Solr, which runs on the Lucene Java search library. While the default search function in eZ Publish stores the search index in the database, Solr uses its own highly optimized file for storing its index.

eZ Find uses Solr to handle indexing and searching with an eZ Publish-specific set of configuration files. While indexing, eZ Find uses this specific configuration to do index and query-time analysis of text and keywords. When users perform searches, eZ Find generates a Solr search query based on the user input that is submitted to the Solr back end. All communication with Solr is via Web services (using the REST model).

Higher weights can be given to certain types of content, parts of content (like titles of tags), or specific pages so that the most important material appears first. eZ Find enables visitors to fine-tune results with advanced sorting and filtering, and drill-down navigation. Drill-down navigation (also known as faceting searching)  attributes are configurable, allowing users to narrow results by publication year or by author, for example.

Offer “more like this” links to content, or initial search results in an automated way. Make use of a spell checker and provide “best guesses” to improve or correct search phrases.

Building on eZ Publish’s renowned multi-language support, eZ Find can return results in multiple languages. The results from the initial search can return relevant categories and show how many search results are from those categories. By clicking on the links for the categories, the search is filtered and narrowed so that users can drill down to pinpoint exactly what they need. The available categories are customizable by content managers based on the logical structure of site content.
