More adaptability with a compelling API concept

With Annapurna we invested in the architecture of eZ Publish Enterprise, and with the upcoming Etna release, you will be able to leverage the full potential of the API Concept. Our objective is to make eZ Publish much more agile to extend, raise the bar to industry leading security and make it easier to use. Agility, security and ease of use are key success factors to create a better Content Experience Management and to better monetize all digital channels.

The new API Concept consists of multiple layers: Public API, REST API and Persistence API. The new APIs will be introduced in close communication with the eZ ecosystem. The specification will be discussed and challenged until beginning of 2012. From the Etna release (May 2012) the new APIs will be part of the release – for the time being the APIs project can be followed on share.ez.no. 

Public API

REST API

Persistence API

While it is great to have access to huge amounts of content sitting in multiple content sources, the flip side is that it may result in compromised performance. But with the Persistence API you are able to improve that performance. It is a flexible layer with a flexible set of interfaces. The result is that instead of integrating multiple repositories manually, you create a highly performing, single point of access and increase productivity by getting the right set of information, in the right format, from multiple repositories very quickly.

The persistence API will allow you to use document oriented databases (Non-SQL DBs). This is a big advantage when handling hundred thousands of articles, because the boundaries of traditional databases no longer exist.

App readiness with the mobile kit
